One I missed during the blog hiatus. Medley of behind-the-scenes video from the spring trio tour with Benji Kirkpatrick (bouzouki, guitar) and Cormac Byrne (percussion, bodhran). Warning: new song spoilers, but also fun footage of Seth messing about in a violin shop leading to definitely the strangest rendition of Lady of the Sea to date.

Hearts and Minds Release Postponed to 19 July
The release date for Hearts and Minds has been put back (again) to 19 July due to “unforeseen problems”.
Buy standard CD: Amazon | Play | HMV | iTunes
Deluxe CD+DVD: Amazon | Play | HMV
The album is also now available on iTunes with a special bonus track, Fire & Dirt.
Launch Gigs
I’ve delayed publishing this post to try to confirm what the new release date means for the various launch gigs scheduled in London, Manchester and Bristol. The good news is the London and Manchester gigs are going ahead as planned. The Bristol one is delayed until 20 July.
Tickets are not on sale for London or Manchester but are available to win by entering competitions from HMV and Q Magazine respectively.
London Jazz Cafe with HMV: Tue 29 June
Win Tickets: pre-order the album from HMV by 8am on Tues 22 June for a chance to win one of 150 tickets.
If you’re quick off the mark you can enter the competition without ordering the album from HMV:
“For free entry, send your name, address, email and telephone number handwritten on a plain piece of paper by pre-paid post to ‘Seth Lakeman Competition’, The Promotions Dept, HMV, Film House, 142 Wardour Street, London, W1F 8LN, to arrive before 21st June 2010. Only one plain paper entry per stamped envelope. ”
See http://hmv.com/hmvweb/navigate.do?pPageID=4618 for details.
Manchester Hard Rock Cafe with Q Magazine: Thu 8 July
Win Tickets: enter the free prize draw on the Q Magazine website by Midnight on 27 June for a chance to win a ticket. Enter at http://news.qthemusic.com/qmusicclub/gigTwo.html
Bristol instore with Rise: Tue 20 July
An instore performance and signing at the Rise record store in Bristol has been rescheduled from the original date of 30 June. There’s not much point doing an instore signing if there’s nothing for to sign.
Tickets: you must have a wristband/ticket to attend the signing. You can get one wristband for each copy of the album you pre-order – in person – from the Rise stores in either Bristol or Cheltenham. Details on the Rise website: www.rise-music.co.uk

Summer gigs and festivals
There are also a few additions to the summer gig line-up. In May Seth will be at RIB Fest on the Isle of Wight, Shepley Spring Festival in West Yorkshire, and the Daphne du Maurier Festival in Cornwall. At the beginning of June he’ll be at the major Wychwood Festival at Cheltenham Racecourse. July sees gigs in Sevenoaks and Dartmoor‘s own Chagstock festival. A so far quiet August is followed in September by Weyfest in Surrey and a return to the Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre.
Details of all dates are on the Gigs page »
Seth will be appearing on BBC One Scotland’s “Hogmanay Live” on New Year’s Eve, showing on BBC1 in Scotland, digital TV ‘red button’ throughout the UK, and streaming worldwide online.
The programme looks to have a distinctly folky flavour throughout, with performances from Phil Cunningham with Aly Bain, Scots Singer of the Year 2008/9 Emily Smith, and an “All-star” houseband featuring John McCusker, Michael McGoldrick, Ross Hamilton and James McIntosh.
The one hour show starts at 11:45 pm. It’ll be on BBC1 in Scotland. If you’re elsewhere in the UK with digital TV you’ll be able to watch it through the BBC “Red Button”, and it will also be streamed live online at www.bbc.co.uk/hogmanay. The online stream will be accessible from anywhere in the world, and the whole programme will be available to view on-demand for 24 hours afterwards.
No news on what Seth will be playing, though it’s possible it may be a solo appearance as now regular band member, Benji Kirkpatrick, is otherwise engaged at the Bellowhead New Year bash at London’s South Bank Centre.
For more info visit the programme website at www.bbc.co.uk/hogmanay or the Facebook page.
All the dates are now confirmed for a short UK tour in the first week of March 2010, including a long-overdue gig in the North East.

These are all now up on MySpace and the official website, but credit must go to the ever watchful Mirelings, especially Annie, Debs, Helen, Rebecca and Fiddler’s Elbow’s sister, for tracking them all down in advance of the official announcement.
There are a couple of extra summer festival date for May – on Isle of Wight and Shepley, West Yorkshire – on the gigs page

BBC 6Music broadcast an old gig from 2006 last night at the ungodly hour of 4am. Luckily it’s available to listen to at a more civilised hour on iPlayer for the next 7 days.
In a blast-from-the-past treat for fans, the half-hour gig includes tracks not included in the current live set and features popular former band member, Cormac Byrne, in full bodhran flow on The Bold Knight and Lady of the Sea.
Setlist:
- Take No Rogues
- John Lomas
- Blood Upon Copper
- King and Country
- The Final Lot
- Rifleman of War
- The Bold Knight – with Cormac on bodhran
- Lady of the Sea – ditto!
